The essence of forbidden techniques is trading the accumulated gains of that eternal pursuit for a momentary explosion of power. First Tier: Annihilation-Level -- Nascent Soul Self-Detonation
Power Level: World-Shattering Cost: Complete obliteration of body and soul
Nascent Soul self-detonation is the most terrifying forbidden technique in the cultivation world, for a simple reason -- it consumes all of a cultivator's accumulated cultivation and life essence. The Nascent Soul is the crystallization of a cultivator's soul and spiritual power; detonating it is equivalent to setting off a spiritual energy bomb concentrated from centuries of cultivation.
A Nascent Soul stage cultivator's self-detonation can reduce an area of several li (roughly a mile) to scorched earth, while the explosion of a Deity Transformation cultivator is even more unimaginable. The novel describes multiple instances of cultivators threatening opponents with self-detonation in desperate situations -- even cultivators a full major stage above often dare not take the hit directly.
